Former Reserve Bank governor Glenn Stevens jumped from being the nation’s chief financial regulator to Packer’s hedge fund and then Australia’s biggest investment bank Macquarie Group.

Stevens, also within a year of leaving the Reserve Bank, joined Ellerston Capital which is the hedge fund established by billionaire James Packer and his late father Kerry.

During his time with the Reserve Bank Stevens also chaired the Council of Financial Regulators made up of the heads of the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority, the Australian Securities Commission and Treasury.
