Cavan Hogue

Cavan Hogue has had a long and distinguished career as an Australian diplomat. He has served in Seoul, Rome, Mexico City and Santiago, as well as Manila and Jakarta. He has been Ambassador to Mexico and Australia’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York. After serving as High Commissioner to Malaysia, Cavan was from 1991 to 1994 Australia’s last Ambassador to the then Soviet Union, then to Russia with joint accreditation to 12 new states which had broken away from the Soviet Union. His last diplomatic appointment was as Australia’s Ambassador to Thailand from 1994 to 1997.
